Timothy Awany leaves FC Ashdod

Uganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany has confirmed his departure from Israeli club FC Ashdod after seven years with the side.

Awany joined Ashdod in July 2019 from KCCA FC and leaves the club following its relegation from the Israeli Premier League. Ashdod finished 14th, second from bottom, with 27 points from 33 matches.

Announcing his departure, Awany expressed gratitude to the club and those who supported him during his stay.

“After seven wonderful years, it’s time for me to say goodbye. Thank you, Ashdod, for your support, friendship and dedication throughout this journey. A big thank you to Jacki and Noni for the trust and belief. The memories, lessons and achievements we shared will always hold a special place in my heart,” Awany said.

“I am grateful to have worked alongside such an amazing team, and I wish you all continued success and happiness in the future. Once a team, always a family.”

During the 2024/25 season, the centre-back featured in 24 league matches, including five appearances in the relegation round.

Awany leaves as a free agent after the expiry of the one-year contract he signed last year.

He departs Ashdod having made 179 league appearances and scored one goal, which came during his debut 2019/20 season. He also featured in 11 domestic cup matches for the club.
