•Nam Blazers Vs City Oilers – 8pm
Nam Blazers will be aiming for the perfect start when they take on City Oilers in Game One of the National Basketball League Finals on Wednesday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The series is a repeat of last year’s final, where the Blazers dethroned the Oilers to win their first-ever league title, ending City Oilers’ decade-long dominance of Ugandan basketball.
Nam Blazers topped the regular-season standings before sweeping JT Jaguars and UCU Canons in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively to book their place in the finals.
City Oilers, who finished second in the regular season, also reached the finals in dominant fashion after sweeping KCCA Panthers and Rezlife Saints.
The Blazers will, however, be without Kevin Nyemeck Leonel, who returned to his native Cameroon. The club has not issued any further update regarding his absence.
Coach Stephen ‘Esco’ Nyeko will instead look to the experienced quartet of former Oilers players James Okello, Jimmy Enabu, Tonny Drileba and Ivan Muhwezi, alongside key performers Anthony Chukwurah, Nyembo Fataki, Tembo Kasereka, Innocent Ochera and Peter Obleng.

City Oilers will be banking on the impact of mid-season recruits Patrick Rembert, Germaine Roebuck and Jonathan Komagum, while Fayed Baale, Titus Lual, Edgar Munaaba, Landry Ndikumana and Joel Kayiira are expected to play crucial roles for Andrew Tendo’s side.
The two teams shared the regular-season meetings, with Oilers winning the opening encounter before Nam Blazers claimed victory in the return fixture.
Meanwhile, the women’s finals are yet to be confirmed as JT Lady Jaguars await the winner of the postponed semifinal between KCCA Leopards and UCU Lady Canons.
