The USSSA boys’ football championship Round of 32 will be played on Friday following the conclusion of the group stage matches in Lira.

The knockout stage will feature teams that finished in the top two positions across the 16 groups (A to P).

Hosts Lira Town College, Mengo Senior School, Teso College Aloet and Bukedea Comprehensive School are among the schools that failed to progress beyond the group stage.

On Wednesday, St Mary’s Secondary School Kitende topped Group P after a 3-0 victory over Seroma Christian High School.

Jordan Tugume, Nabil Kajumbi and captain Collins Ochatre scored in the second half to send Kitende into the Round of 32.

Lubiri Secondary School also advanced after defeating Bukedea Comprehensive North 2-0 in the same group.

In Group M, Masaka Secondary School and Madina Islamic Secondary School qualified for the knockout stage following a 1-1 draw.

There will also be classification matches for teams that finished in the bottom two positions in their groups to determine places between 33rd and 64th.

All 16 Round of 32 matches will be played on Friday at four venues — Lango College, Lira Town College, Dr Obote I and Dr Obote II.

Defending champions Buddo Secondary School will face Kisozi Seed Secondary School, while Jinja Progressive Academy take on Amus College School. Bukedea Comprehensive School South will face Bristol High School, while Kitende take on Kitara Secondary School among other fixtures.
