The 11th edition of the Chaapa League, sponsored by Guinness, will climax on Saturday, September 19, with a grand finale at the Mbarara High School (Chaapa) Grounds.
The finale will be held under the theme “Back to the Kraal,” as the league returns to its roots by bringing together alumni from different cohorts through football, friendship and their shared Chaapa heritage.
The regular season was played in Kampala, with the top eight teams qualifying for the knockout stage of the finale.
The quarterfinal draws were conducted on Wednesday during the official launch of the Season 11 finale at Inspire Cafe in Kampala.
Defending champions Yobo Yobo will face CHOGM FC, while SC Rwizi take on Dingiswayo FC. See Far FC will meet Bulls OldTimers, with CF Burdizo facing Rugabo City.
The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals, with the two winners meeting in the final to determine the Season 11 champion.
Chaapa League Chairperson Kenedy Gumisiriza says preparations are already in advanced stages and has called on former students to turn up for the finale.
“We have made great preparations for a successful climax on 19 September 2026 at the Mbarara High School main playgrounds. We urge all the old students to come and be part of it,” Gumisiriza said.
Guinness Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, Denise Paula Nazzinda, says the brand is looking to make this year’s finale bigger by taking the experience beyond football.
“We want everyone who comes to the finale to enjoy great football, great company and great Guinness moments. Most importantly, we want everyone to have a Lovely Day for a Guinness,” Nazzinda said.
She added that Guinness plans to build on last year’s experience with more entertainment and fan engagement.
“The last finale was an exciting celebration, with the Guinness touch adding to the atmosphere and overall experience. This year, we are going even further. Guinness is big on football and passionate about creating experiences that live beyond the game,” she said.
The finale will also feature a women’s football fixture, with Holistics, an alumni team from Maryhill High School, taking on a select side from the Maryhill Old Girls Association (MOGA).
Holistics captain Sheeba Ahereza says the competition has provided the team with an opportunity to connect with a wider alumni football community.
“We are proud to be part of the Chaapa League, which has grown into one of the key alumni football leagues. We are looking forward to the finale and the chance to share the weekend with old students, families and football fans,” Ahereza said.
Organisers say the entertainment lineup will be announced ahead of the event, with several activities planned to complement the football and give fans a memorable Season 11 finale.
