Vipers SC will be looking to seal the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League title on the penultimate day of the season when they visit Maroons FC at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
The Venoms will be eager to bounce back after their Uganda Cup semifinal elimination by Kitara FC, who advanced on the away goals rule following a 1-1 draw at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Back in the league, Vipers sit top of the table with 61 points, three ahead of second-placed KCCA FC with two matches remaining.
Victory over Maroons would be enough for Vipers to clinch the title regardless of KCCA’s result away to URA FC at Nakivubo.

The Uganda Premier League uses head-to-head record, not goal difference, as the tiebreaker in case teams finish level on points.
Vipers already hold the advantage over KCCA after a 1-0 win at Kitende and a 1-1 draw in the return leg at Lugogo.
Vipers can also win the title with a draw provided KCCA fail to beat URA!
However, the Venoms cannot officially be crowned champions until the final day of the season when they host Express FC, even if they secure the title-deciding result against Maroons on Tuesday.

Vipers will fancy their chances of getting the job done given the quality within their squad.
In the reverse fixture, they defeated Maroons 2-1 at Kitende. Derrick Basoga’s own goal gave Vipers the lead before Usama Arafat doubled the advantage. Raymond Walugembe pulled one back for the Prison Wardens, but it proved only a consolation.
Last season, Vipers edged Maroons 1-0 away from home courtesy of an Allan Okello strike.
Tuesday’s encounter will be played at Wankulukuku rather than Luzira, with the Prisons Ground unavailable, as has been the case for Maroons’ last two home matches.
Maroons have little left to play for as they sit 10th on the table with 35 points from 28 matches and are already safe from relegation.
They head into the fixture on a three-match winless run and have failed to score in their last two outings — a 3-0 defeat away to KCCA followed by a goalless draw at home against UPDF FC.
