•UPDF 1-2 KCCA
•Mbarara City 1-3 SC Villa
•NEC vs Buhimba
KCCA FC left it late to beat UPDF and keep their Uganda Premier League title hopes alive for at least another matchday.
Trailing until the 87th minute, KCCA struck twice in the space of two minutes to seal a dramatic comeback victory at Bombo Playground.
A defeat would have handed Vipers the league title with two games to spare.
UPDF had taken the lead through Emmanuel Manu Ochen, who headed home after Christopher Kamagu flicked on Joseph Janjali’s free-kick.
KCCA, who had squandered several chances earlier in the game, finally found the equaliser through Emmanuel Anyama. The forward headed in from close range after a delivery from Herbert Achayi.
The winner arrived in the 89th minute when Etienne Katenga bundled the ball into an empty net after goalkeeper Shamulan Kamya came off his line but failed to deal with a lofty cross.
KCCA coach Jackson Magera said: “It wasn’t as easy as we had anticipated. We had to dig deep and show energy. We were playing against a team fighting for survival, but the good thing is that the players remained focused until the end and executed the instructions we gave them.”
The victory moves KCCA FC to 58 points, three behind league leaders Vipers with two matches left this season. KCCA will visit URA before hosting Mbarara City on the final day, while Vipers face Maroons away before concluding their campaign at home against Express FC.
