Amus College are the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys Football champions after defeating Bukedea Comprehensive School 1-0 in Tuesday’s final played at Lira Town College.

John Brian Otim scored the decisive goal, curling a free kick past goalkeeper Anthony Kantangalo in the 23rd minute to secure Amus College’s maiden national title.

It is a long-awaited triumph for Amus College, who had come close in previous years, including a 3-0 defeat to St Julian High School in the 2024 final in Masaka.

Coach Richard Malinga’s side produced an impressive campaign throughout the tournament, and lifting the trophy against regional rivals Bukedea made the victory even more significant.

They also achieved the feat without Pius Oyirwoth, who missed the final after being sent off in the semifinal against St Mary’s SS Kitende for a second bookable offence.

The four semifinalists, including Kyadondo SS, have all qualified for the FEASSA Games later this year in Morogoro, Tanzania.

They will also represent Uganda at the ISF World School Football Cup scheduled for China in October 2026.

Amus College finished the tournament unbeaten, winning all three of their group-stage matches against Trinity College Nabbingo, Standard High School, and Mukono Kings High School, before completing their historic run with the final victory.

St Mary’s Kitende beat Kyadondo SS 3-0 to settle for bronze in a third place match.
