The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) held a club licensing workshop for Uganda Premier League clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The workshop, held on Wednesday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, brought together officials from all 18 Uganda Premier League clubs to discuss licensing requirements, timelines and compliance measures for the upcoming campaign.
The engagement focused on the implementation of FUFA Men’s Club Licensing Regulations, covering sporting, infrastructure, administrative, legal and financial requirements aimed at improving professionalism and standards in Ugandan football.
FUFA Club Licensing Committee chairman Jeremiah Mugerwa described the workshop as productive, saying club representatives actively participated in the discussions.
Mugerwa revealed that all 18 Uganda Premier League clubs were represented, with every club CEO attending the workshop.
He said the next stage of the licensing process will involve physical inspections and assessments of club facilities by contracted firms working alongside members of the Club Licensing Committee.
According to Mugerwa, the inspection phase will run for about six weeks before the process is concluded.
The club licensing process will now continue with the opening of the Club Licensing Online Platform and club inspections before final licensing decisions are made ahead of the start of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
The Uganda Premier League set to kick off on August 28, 2026.
The primary registration window will open on July 1, while physical inspection visits to clubs will be conducted between July 1 and July 15.
The deadline for clubs to submit their licensing documents has been set for July 15.
FUFA will announce the final list of licensed clubs eligible to participate in the 2026/27 season on July 27, before releasing the league fixtures a day later on July 28.
