The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations has confirmed that eight teams will take part in the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship.
The tournament will be hosted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from June 13 to 23, 2026.
CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi said all eight Member Associations have confirmed participation, including Somalia and Sudan, who will field women’s teams at international level for the first time.
The teams set to compete are hosts Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia and Sudan.
Mossi said the competition will also help teams from the region that reach the final stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers to prepare better.
CECAFA will also organise five other tournaments this season, including the CECAFA Kagame Cup, the CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA qualifiers, and qualifiers for both the Africa Cup of Nations U-20 and the Africa Cup of Nations U-17.
