Former KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi made his first public appearance since his disappearance in March, attending KCCA FC’s 1-0 victory over Kitara in a tightly contested Uganda Premier League match at Lugogo on Friday night.
Mutebi’s appearance came as a relief to many football fans after he went missing for three days last month.
The veteran tactician had disappeared on a Saturday from Kisubi Beach after attending a Catholic seminar. Family members raised the alarm on Sunday, with news of his disappearance spreading widely on Monday morning.
A resident of Kawempe, Mutebi was last seen at around 6:30pm then as participants prepared to return to Kampala from the beach retreat.
He was later found on Monday evening and rushed to Kisubi Hospital for medical attention.
Following his appearance at Lugogo, KCCA FC welcomed him back with a heartfelt message on social media.

“Nice to see you back home, Mike,” the club posted alongside his photo across its official platforms.
After the final whistle, Mutebi was escorted away by KCCA FC CEO Anisha Muhoozi, walking slowly as he made his way out of the stadium.
Along the way, he managed to shake hands with a few fans and media personnel before briefly meeting current co-coach Brian Ssenyondo.
Reports indicate that Mutebi is currently battling mental health challenges and is being monitored by doctors from Mulago National Referral Hospital at his home in Kawempe.
Mutebi most recently coached AS Kigali FC, but was dismissed in April 2022, just four months after taking charge.

He had earlier parted ways with Kampala Capital City Authority FC on March 29, 2021, ending one of the most successful managerial spells in the club’s history.
During his time at KCCA, Mutebi guided the Kasasiro Boys to three Uganda Premier League titles, two Uganda Cups, four Super Cups, and one CECAFA Kagame Cup title in a remarkable five-year reign.
