Police strangle Mbarara City in Kamwenge

Thursday, April 16
•Mbarara City 1-2 Police
•Buhimba United Saints 1-2 Entebbe UPPC

Police FC finished it late to collect maximum points away to Mbarara City in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Rwamwanja stadium in Kamwenge.

The Peace Keepers needed a Paul Marko Teny strike in added time off Saidi Kyeyune’s corner to claim maximum points.

It was a disappointing ending for Mbarara City who had started brilliantly, and rewarded with an opening goal through Muhammad Kanyike after he was teed up by Ronald Edwok before halftime.

But Matia Lule’s charges improved in the second half, and got their reward in the 75th minute when Daniel Jakony found a leveller after collecting from Brian James Obedi.

The defeat leaves Mbarara City on 16 points, just a point above relegation with seven matches to end of the season.

Police FC on the other hand, return to winning ways after back to back defeats against Express and NEC FC, and the side climb up to sixth with 38 points.

What next – Mbarara City will host Maroons on April 21 while Police will welcome URA FC on the same day.
