•NEC 1-0 Maroons
NEC collected their third straight Uganda Premier League victory after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Maroons on Saturday at Lugogo.
Richard Basangwa scored the only goal of the game in a match where chances were at a premium.
Basangwa bundled in a rebound after an effort had ricocheted off the post in the 36th minute.
It was a goal Maroons could have avoided, with Muhammad Kagawa Ssenoga’s effort pushed onto the post by Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale, and there was no Maroons defender to clear away from danger.
Simon Kayongo Ssekamatte earlier could not convert when he hurtled into a cross from Joseph Dhata as NEC searched for an early breakthrough.

Maroons created some half chances, Boris Onegi and Mujahid Baden Ogama headed wide from corners while Marvin Oshaba shot direct at the goalkeeper after a dazzling run from Ivan Mayanja
The result hands NEC FC a third straight victory, having earlier beaten Police and URA FC.
This, is the sixth straight cleansheet for NEC since a 1-1 draw away to Vipers SC in the league.
And the result sends Badru Kaddu’s side to fifth on the table with 40 points, five adrift of SC Villa in fourth after 23 games.
The defeat is the 8th of the season for Maroons who slip to ninth on the table with 29 points.
What next – NEC FC visit Express on April 24 at Nakivubo while Maroons will take a long trip to Kamwenge to face Mbarara City on the same day.
