Richard Basangwa scored twice as NEC FC defeated Entebbe UPPC 2-1 in the second leg of their FUFA Super 8 quarter-final at Nakivubo Stadium on Thursday.
The victory secured NEC’s place in the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate win after the first leg ended 1-1 last Sunday.
Swadik Moro scored Entebbe UPPC’s only goal, but it was not enough to prevent Abdallah Mubiru’s side from bowing out.
Basangwa gave NEC the perfect start, scoring just seconds after kickoff. James Jarieko picked him out, and the forward bundled the ball into the net.

Moro levelled matters after tapping in from Julius Poloto’s delivery, with NEC goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo failing to deal with what appeared to be a routine effort.
However, Basangwa restored NEC’s lead after beating his marker for pace before calmly slotting the ball underneath the advancing goalkeeper Denis Otim.
Entebbe UPPC will regret several missed chances, including an effort that struck the woodwork and another goal-bound shot that was cleared off the line late in the game.
Earlier, Ssebwalunyo had produced important saves to deny Sharif Ssengendo and later kept out Poloto from close range.

NEC FC will face the winner of the other quarter-final between KCCA FC and BUL FC in the semi-finals.
KCCA hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, with the return fixture set for Friday at Nakivubo Stadium. The losing side will face Entebbe UPPC in the classification match.
