The Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship 2026 is underway at the Uganda Golf Club with the Ladies Open, marking the start of three days of competitive action.
More than 100 female golfers are expected to compete in the three-ball tournament across the Silver and Bronze categories.
Uganda’s challenge is led by former champions Peace Kabasweka and Martha Babirye, alongside national team players Judith Komugisha and Meron Kyomugisha.
Kabasweka enters the tournament in strong form after finishing third at the Zambia Ladies Open. She has also won the Namlunoge Ladies Open and President’s Cup at Entebbe Club, while finishing third at the Kilembe and Entebbe Ladies Opens.
Babirye, a three-time Uganda Open winner, will also be among the leading contenders after recently winning the Ugandan leg of the NCBA Golf Series at Uganda Golf Club.
Komugisha comes into the competition after winning the Kilembe Ladies Open, while Kyomugisha claimed the ladies’ title at the Absa Chairman’s Bell in June.

Tanzania provides the strongest foreign challenge, led by 2018 champion Neema Olomi, who finished runner-up last year. She will be joined by Hawa Wanyeche, Vicky Elias, Yasmin Chali, Ayne Magombe and Timea Chogo.
Ghana’s Hawah Brito Musah, Nigeria’s Ehinomhen Juliana Igbinadolor and Rwanda’s Slyvie Irakoze are also part of the international field.
The Ladies Open is expected to highlight the growing strength of women’s golf in the region, with recent winners including Kenya’s Mercy Nyachama in 2025, Tanzania’s Iddy Madina in 2024 and Uganda’s Kabasweka in 2023.
The championship will also feature Johnnie Walker’s She Walks platform on the final day, with a themed 19th Hole experience celebrating women’s achievements beyond the golf course.
The tournament is supported by ABSA, MTN MoMo, Aquafina, Pepsi, Case Clinic, Medisell, Rose Foam, Pearl Marina and NBS Sport.
