FUFA Revokes KCCA’s Approval to Host Night Matches at Lugogo

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has revoked approval for Omondi Stadium in Lugogo to host night matches with immediate effect!

This, follows a power outage during KCCA FC’s game against UPDF FC.

In a letter seen by this website, and addressed to KCCA FC Chief Executive Officer, FUFA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ampaire Sheba Ronah said the conditions under which the stadium was approved to host night matches were no longer being met.

FUFA had granted the stadium approval to host matches under floodlights in a letter dated September 22, 2026.

The federation said the decision to withdraw the approval was made in accordance with the 2026 FUFA Men’s Club Licensing Regulations, which provide for further inspections and the withdrawal of a licence when the conditions for its issuance are no longer satisfied.

The approval will remain suspended until corrective measures are implemented, a fresh inspection is conducted and FUFA issues written clearance.

As a result, all fixtures that were scheduled to be played under floodlights at MTN Omondi Stadium will now kick off at 4:00 p.m.

KCCA FC has been directed to liaise with the Uganda Premier League Secretariat regarding the affected fixtures.

The development comes after the power outage disrupted the match between KCCA FC and UPDF FC at the Lugogo-based stadium, raising concerns about the facility’s readiness to host night games.

FUFA is yet to make their stand on the result of the match that was goalless after eight minutes when the blackout occurred.
