Vipers SC have confirmed they have parted ways with head coach Denis Lavagne by mutual consent, with the club announcing the decision on Saturday morning.
The development follows Friday’s goalless draw against Police FC at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, which extended Vipers’ winless run at home to three league matches.
The Venoms had earlier drawn 1-1 with Maroons after opening their home campaign with a defeat to Entebbe UPPC, leaving them with just two points from their three games at Kitende.
Lavagne had come under pressure after failing to guide Vipers into the lucrative group stages of continental competition, an objective that has become a key expectation for coaches at the club.
Vipers were eliminated by Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on the away-goals rule.
His predecessor, Ivan Minnaert, had guided the club to a league title without a defeat on the pitch. Vipers’ only loss that season came by a boardroom decision after they forfeited their match against Kitara while protesting the league format.
“Vipers informs its stakeholders and the general public that it has by mutual consent ended its contractual relationship with Mr Denis Lavagne (Head Coach), effective October 24th, 2026,” the club said in a statement.
“The club would like to thank Lavagne for his services during his stay with the Venoms family and wishes him the best in his career development.”
Vipers sit fifth in the Uganda Premier League standings with 11 points. Their victories this season have come against Kataka, Blacks Power and Ntugasaze.
