Namuwongo Blazers made it two wins out of two at the ongoing Road to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in Hoima after thrashing Madagascar’s COSPN 99-56.
The Blazers appeared to face a tough test early on, edging the first quarter 20-19. However, they stepped up their game from the second quarter onwards, asserting their dominance to secure a convincing 43-point victory.
Frank Nyembo Fataki led the scoring with 23 points, shooting an impressive 9-for-13 from the field in another outstanding performance.
Senegalese forward Makhtar Gueye added 15 points, while Peter Obleng contributed 11 points and nine rebounds to help the Blazers cruise to victory.
Ikenna Kenechukwu Okeke scored a team-high 20 points for COSPN, but his efforts proved insufficient as he was the only player on the Madagascar side to reach double figures.
The Blazers dominated the boards, winning the rebounding battle 55-33, while shooting 10-for-31 from beyond the arc.
COSPN struggled to keep pace as the game progressed, with 22 turnovers further compounding their difficulties.
Having opened their campaign with a commanding 109-45 victory over Comoros’ Ushindzi on Wednesday, the Blazers now have a rest day before returning to action against South Sudan’s Patrions on Saturday and Burundi’s Urunani on Sunday.
