BUL FC broke their NEC FC jinx with a 2-1 victory to strengthen their position at the summit of the Uganda Premier League.
Ronald Madoi opened the scoring for BUL after 13 minutes before Marvin Oshaba restored parity for NEC five minutes into the second half.
Swabir Mpasa netted what proved to be the winner in the 67th minute, sparking wild celebrations in Njeru.
BUL had gone eight league meetings without beating NEC, recording three defeats and five draws before Wednesday’s encounter.
BUL head coach Alex Isabirye was pleased with his team’s performance, saying their preparation and strategy made the difference.
“I think we were more prepared than them. They are one of the best teams in the country, but I think our strategy worked,” he said.
“I am very happy for the boys and everyone at BUL FC, and I think we can build on today’s win.”
BUL remain top of the table with 19 points from seven games, having won six and drawn once against Lugazi. They will host Entebbe UPPC in their next league fixture on October 31.
NEC, meanwhile, missed the chance to move to the top and remain third with 14 points from seven matches. The defeat was their first of the season.
