Uganda will face Sudan in the semi-finals of the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) CECAFA qualifiers on Tuesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Hippos sealed top spot in Group B after beating Sudan 1-0 on Saturday, maintaining their perfect record in the tournament with two wins from two matches.
Substitute Amour Munogera scored the decisive goal to give Laryea Kingston’s side maximum points and a 100 percent winning record.
Sudan finished second in Group B with three points, while Djibouti ended bottom without a point.
Uganda’s semi-final opponent was confirmed after Kenya and South Sudan played out a 1-1 draw in the earlier Group C match. The result eliminated both teams and confirmed the four semi-finalists.
Hosts Tanzania also secured top spot in Group A after thrashing Ethiopia 4-0, with Bashiri Salum Kibaila and Juma Sagwe scoring two goals each.
Tanzania will face Burundi in the other semi-final.
The semi-finals will be played on Tuesday, September 22, with the finalists earning qualification to the 2027 U-20 AFCON finals.
