City Oilers cruised past Victoria Crocs 74-52 in the National Basketball League on Wednesday at Abja Park in Naalya.

The Oilers had to come from behind after the Crocs edged the opening quarter 18-17. However, a dominant 20-10 second quarter gave City Oilers a nine-point halftime lead, and they never looked back.

Joel Kayiira recorded a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Fayed Bbaale led the scoring with 19 points and Allawi Ssenkubuge added 10.

The Oilers were without Landry Ndikumana, Joel Lukoji, and Rogers Dauna. New signing Jonathan Komagum is expected to debut on Friday against UCU Canons.

Chuol Nyuot put up a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Crocs, but his effort was not enough.

City Oilers dominated the glass, outrebounding the Crocs 59-36, and got 22 points from the bench. Victoria Crocs struggled from long range, missing 15 of their 17 three-point attempts.

The win marks a third straight victory for the Oilers in the second round, improving their season record to 13-1.

The loss is the ninth in 15 games for the Crocs, though they will look to bounce back against less demanding opponents ahead.
