Ugandan football fans will have an opportunity to see the Premier League Trophy when it arrives in the country from October 11 to 13 as part of a three-country East African tour.
The trophy will make its first visit to Uganda in more than a decade, with Guinness, the Official Beer of the Premier League, organising a series of fan activities in Kampala and Entebbe.
The three-day tour will combine football, music and Ugandan culture, with fans expected to take part in various entertainment activities and get an opportunity to see the trophy up close.
The Ugandan leg will follow the trophy’s visit to Tanzania and will precede its stop in Kenya.
The programme will also include engagements with selected stakeholders and visits to tourism sites as Guinness seeks to connect the Premier League experience with Uganda’s football and cultural scene.
The tour is part of Guinness’ Lovely Day for Guinness campaign, with We Are Extra serving as the brand’s football platform.
Speaking about the tour, Uganda Breweries Limited Senior Brand Manager Denise Paula Nazzinda said the trophy’s arrival is intended to give fans an experience beyond the regular Premier League matchday.
“Football in Uganda is a passion that brings people together, creates friendships and gives us moments we remember long after the final whistle,” Nazzinda said.
She added that Guinness wants to use the tour to celebrate football fans through music, culture and entertainment while bringing the Premier League Trophy closer to them.
The trophy tour is expected to further strengthen Guinness’ association with Premier League football in Uganda through its Guinness Matchday and Guinness Matchday on Tour initiatives.
