The second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal between Olympique Safi (Morocco) and USM Alger (Algeria) was thrown into chaos after mass pitch fan invasion on Sunday.
The match at Stade El Massira in Safi, was set to kick off before the situation turned chaotic when a large crowd of fans stormed the pitch.
The situation created confusion and ugly scenes as players (mostly USM Alger) and match officials ran back to the dressing rooms.
The kickoff was delayed for about an hour, and after security restored calm, the match eventually kicked off.
USM Alger booked their place in the CAF Confederation Cup final after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Visitors struck first before halftime, Ahmed Khaldi converting from the spot before the Moroccan side levelled in the 75th minute through substitute Moussa Kone.
USM Alger who lifted this trophy in 2022/23, progress on away goals rule, with the first leg ending 0-0.
They will now face Egyptian giants Zamalek who progressed past Algerian side CR Belouizdad.
