FUBA hands Miracle Eaglets Walkover against KCCA

KCCA Leopards were handed a controversial walkover defeat on Friday after FUBA ruled in favour of Miracle Eaglets following a pre-game colour clash in the National Basketball League.

The game failed to tip off at Lugogo after Match Commissioner Joy Olinga determined that KCCA’s red jerseys conflicted with Miracle Eaglets’ light blue kit.

According to FUBA regulations under Section 2.01 (g), the home team is required to wear light colours, while the visiting team must don dark colours.

KCCA Leopards, who were the designated home side, entered the court in their red kit instead of their alternative white kit.

The move was deemed to have breached the dress code requirements but officials granted KCCA a 15-minute window to rectify the issue.

The team scrambled to secure their white jerseys, but reportedly returned two minutes after the allotted time had elapsed.

Under FUBA rules, failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe results in forfeiture.

Miracle Eaglets stood firm on the enforcement of the regulation and declined to take to the court once the deadline passed.

Despite KCCA’s readiness to proceed with the match upon returning with the correct kit, the decision was upheld, awarding Miracle Eaglets a walkover victory.

Tensions flared courtside as KCCA officials confronted the match commissioner over the ruling, leading to heated exchanges before order was restored.

Sources within KCCA indicate the club will not appeal the decision. The outcome also impacts their earlier first-round victory over Miracle Eaglets, where KCCA had secured a commanding 75-44 win.
