KCCA FC will hope to return to winning ways when they host Maroons in a Uganda Premier League clash tonight at the Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA head into the match on the back of a difficult run that has all but ended their title hopes. They first suffered a defeat away to Calvary before settling for a 1-1 draw against rivals Vipers.

After Ivan Ahimbisibwe had given KCCA the lead from the penalty spot, the Kasasiro Boys conceded a late equaliser through Beyuku Glodi Munsi as the Venoms salvaged a point.

The result left KCCA fourth on 52 points, seven behind leaders Vipers with only four games remaining.

“After that poor run, all we have in mind now is to play and collect maximum points,” said KCCA co-coach Jackson Magera.

“We have to create more chances and convert them. We also need to stay composed and organised to avoid conceding goals. We must be more clinical upfront, especially against a Maroons side that will not give you many chances.”

KCCA have received a boost with left-back James Mubezi back in training after missing the past two months with a fractured hand. Forward Kennedy Muserero has also recovered from illness that ruled him out of the previous two league matches.

Maroons, meanwhile, are ninth on the table with 34 points and travel to Lugogo unbeaten in their last three league matches.

They come into the game after a 2-2 draw away to URA at Nakivubo, having previously drawn with Mbarara City before beating Police 3-1.

The reverse fixture between the two sides ended in a goalless draw at Luzira.

Maroons’ last victory at Lugogo came in 2023 when they claimed a 2-1 win courtesy of a Fred Amaku brace.
