FUFA Docks Buhimba Points, Imposes Sh3m Fine

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations, FUFA, has imposed sanctions against relegated Buhimba United Saints.

The Hoima-based side was found guilty of failing to honour their Uganda Premier League match against NEC FC on May 13th at Lugogo.

The FUFA Disciplinary Panel ruled that Buhimba United Saints lose the match and also suffer an immediate deduction of three points from their accumulated tally.

The club has additionally been fined three million shillings.

Buhimba United Saints, who are already relegated, remain bottom of the table with 12 points.

At kickoff, NEC FC players, led by match referee Solomon Jjumba, marched onto the field of play without Buhimba FC. The pre-match routine was completed before a forfeit was declared.

On Tuesday, the club head coach resigned from his position, citing months without pay since joining the side.

The players reportedly refused to travel to Kampala for the league encounter, demanding payment of outstanding salaries before honoring the fixture.

Since then, the club managed to travel to Kamwenge for the away fixture against Mbarara City despite arriving late for the match.

They are scheduled to face URA FC in their home game on Friday, the last of what has been a difficult season.
