City Oilers will be targeting a third consecutive victory when they face UPDF Tomahawks in the National Basketball League on Wednesday at Nakivubo Court.
The Oilers have responded strongly since their loss to the Namuwongo Blazers, recording back-to-back wins over JT Jaguars and JKL Dolphins.
In their most recent outing on Sunday, they cruised to an emphatic 85-33 victory over JKL. Jonathan Komagum starred with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds.
City Oilers remain top of the standings with 18 wins from 20 games, although they have played one game more than the Blazers.
Following Wednesday’s clash, they will conclude their regular season campaign against Sommet.
UPDF, meanwhile, boosted their survival hopes with a victory over JT Jaguars, improving their record to 5-14.
The Tomahawks are locked in a relegation battle alongside JT Jaguars, JKL Dolphins and UMU Flames, with one of those four teams set to join already relegated Kampala Rockets in dropping out of the top flight. Two teams will be relegated at the end of the season.
While pulling off an upset against the Oilers will be a daunting task, a competitive performance could provide UPDF with valuable momentum ahead of their remaining fixtures against Victoria Crocs and UCU Canons.
