City Oilers seek to end regular season on a high

•City Oilers Vs Sommet – YMCA, 8pm

City Oilers will look to finish the regular season on a high when they face Sommet on Friday at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The Oilers currently sit atop the standings, having won 19 of their 21 games, with their only defeats coming against Nam Blazers and Rezlife Saints.

A victory would guarantee they end the regular season at the summit. However, Nam Blazers could still overtake them if they win their remaining fixtures, having the advantage in the head-to-head record.

The Oilers head into the contest on the back of a convincing 78-60 victory over UPDF Tomahawks on Wednesday at Nakivubo.

Five Oilers players scored in double figures in that win, with Malual Dier leading the way with 16 points. Titus Lual added 14 points, while Joel Kayiira, Joel Lukoji and Fayed Bbaale contributed 12, 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Oilers defeated Sommet 66-60 in their first-round meeting in March and will be aiming to complete a season double over a side that has experienced an inconsistent campaign.

In that victory, Landry Ndikumana and Titus Lual scored 14 points apiece. Despite being outrebounded 47-46, the Oilers showcased their depth by getting 39 points from the bench, although they committed 27 turnovers.

Sommet recently parted ways with head coach Albert Aciko and assistant coach Simon Kasule following a 94-64 defeat to Nam Blazers.

The club subsequently appointed Julius Lutwama, who has overseen back-to-back victories against KCCA Panthers and UMU Flames.

In their latest win, Dieu Thuok Kuol led the scoring with 16 points, while Joseph Chuma and Peter Cheng each added 14. Pauti Ozias Kikomba also made a significant contribution with 13 points.
