JT Lady Jaguars sweep Magic Stormers to reach NBL final

JT Lady Jaguars have reached the National Basketball League (NBL) final after completing a semifinal sweep over Magic Stormers on Friday at Lugogo.

Leading the best-of-five series 2-0, the Jaguars secured a 61-55 victory in Game Three to complete a 3-0 series win and book their place in the championship decider.

Magic Stormers started strongly, taking a 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, but they failed to maintain the momentum as JT gradually took control of the game.

Maimuna Nabbosa led the Jaguars with 17 points, while Bridget Aber added 11 points. Shakirah Nanvubya contributed 7 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists as JT secured another important victory.

For the Stormers, Kur Ajah scored 12 points, while Angella Aumah and Daphine Adong added 11 and 10 points respectively, but their efforts were not enough to force a fourth game.

Despite struggling from beyond the arc, shooting just 3-for-26, and missing 10 free throws, JT made up for their inefficiencies by controlling the boards and grinding out the win.

The victory ends Magic Stormers’ playoff run after they eliminated Pearl Queens in the previous round.

JT Lady Jaguars, who knocked out defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins in the quarterfinals, now advance to the final in search of their first NBL title.

They will face the winner of the other semifinal between UCU Lady Canons and KCCA Leopards, with KCCA currently trailing 2-1 in the series.
