Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga) have confirmed the sale of Ugandan midfielder Allan Okello, with the player reportedly set for a move to Moroccan side AS FAR Rabat.
Yanga president Hersi Said confirmed Okello’s departure while addressing the club’s supporters, bringing an end to the midfielder’s short but impressive spell with the Tanzanian champions.
Although Yanga did not officially name Okello’s next club, AS FAR are understood to be leading the race for his signature, having competed with Wydad Athletic Club for the Ugandan’s services.

Okello joined Yanga from Vipers midway through last season and quickly established himself as an important player, finishing the campaign as the club’s leading scorer with 14 goals.
His performances attracted significant interest from clubs outside Tanzania, with AS FAR now emerging as his likely destination.
A move to AS FAR could also see Okello reunite with Portuguese coach Pedro Goncalves, who previously worked with him at Yanga.
Despite confirming the sale, Hersi suggested that Okello’s departure does not necessarily mean the end of his relationship with Yanga, leaving the possibility of the midfielder returning to the club in the future.

Okello’s expected move to Morocco would mark another return to the Maghreb region having had a stint with Paradou AC.
