KCCA FC are in Nairobi ahead of a high-profile international friendly against Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The match, scheduled for 4:00 p.m., will give both clubs an opportunity to test their squads and fine-tune preparations ahead of the 2026/27 domestic season.
KCCA arrive in Kenya with confidence after lifting the 2026 FUFA Super 8 title. The Kasasiro Boys defeated NEC FC 1–0 in the final at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, with Saidi Mayanja converting the decisive first-half penalty and earning tournament MVP honours.
KCCA head coach Brian Ssenyondo said the encounter will provide an important test of his team’s tactical organisation, fitness and cohesion.
“Winning the FUFA Super 8 gave us early momentum and confidence, but our focus must immediately shift to the longer road ahead,” Ssenyondo said.
“Facing a team of AFC Leopards’ stature in Nairobi presents the exact intensity and tactical test we need before the league starts. It is not just about results; it is about building match sharpness, testing our chemistry under pressure, and ensuring the boys are physically and mentally ready for the demanding season ahead.”
For AFC Leopards, the fixture comes during an active recruitment period and will also serve as an opportunity to unveil and present their new squad to supporters.
The Kenyan side has several Ugandan connections, with former KCCA players Sam Ssenyonjo and Tom Ikara currently on the club’s books. Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga is also part of the Leopards squad.
The friendly is therefore expected to provide a competitive regional test for two clubs preparing to make strong starts to their respective campaigns.
