KCCA FC extended their winning run in the Uganda Premier League to five matches after beating Mbarara City 3-1 at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge on Saturday.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Sammy Ssebaduka and Charles Lwanga scored for the Kasasiro Boys, who continued their impressive run of form.

KCCA took the lead in the 12th minute after Saidi Mayanja was brought down in the penalty area by Gabriel Eragu. Ahimbisibwe stepped up and converted from the spot.

Mbarara responded in the 28th minute when Ronald Edwok finished off Abdul Bironse’s delivery to restore parity.

However, KCCA regained the lead three minutes before half-time through Ssebaduka, who headed home from Fillbert Obenchan’s long throw-in.

KCCA had a chance to extend their advantage in the 70th minute after Ssebaduka was fouled in the box by Reagan Matege, but Ibrahim Kasule’s penalty was saved by goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya.

The visitors nevertheless scored from the resulting corner, with Lwanga heading home Herbert Achayi’s delivery in the 72nd minute to seal the victory.

The result takes KCCA’s winning streak to five matches as they maintain their push in the league.

KCCA will return to action on Wednesday, November 4, when they host Maroons FC at Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The defeat is the fourth for the Ankole Lions in eight games and the side is 13th with eight points.

Mbarara City return to action on November 6 against hosts Kigezi Homeboyz at Rwamwanja stadium in Kamwenge.
