•Sommet Vs JT Jaguars – 9pm
Sommet Basketball Club will unleash their new signings Pauti Ozias Kikomba and Gatwang Thuok on Friday when they face JT Jaguars as the National Basketball League second round tips off.
The two headline arrivals joined during the mid-season transfer window as Sommet strengthen their squad in pursuit of the league title in only their second season in the top flight.
Kikomba arrives from Kampala Rockets, where he featured in the first round before leaving the club due to financial constraints.
The forward averaged 9.8 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Gatwang, meanwhile, makes a return to the National Basketball League for the first time since 2023 when he played for Ndejje University Angels. He made an immediate impact on his Ndejje debut, scoring 23 points as Ndejje ended City Oilers’ 18-game unbeaten streak.
Sommet are also boosted by the return of Opira Markey who has been sidelined by an injury.
The mid-season transfer window remains open until May 15.
The new arrivals come after the club parted ways with foreign imports Nkulu Kaseya, Karabana Diaw and Emilagba Abolahdji Abdulahi following the first round.
The trio is expected to add depth and quality to a side that already boasts key performers Peter Cheng and Joseph Chuma, both of whom averaged double figures in scoring during the opening round.
Sommet ended the first round in fifth place with six wins and five defeats.
They edged JT Jaguars 74-72 in their first-round meeting on March 15, with Peter Cheng starring with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
JT Jaguars on the other hand, finished sixth with five wins and six losses. Their form dipped towards the end of the first round, suffering three defeats in their last four games against Rezlife Saints, Nam Blazers and City Oilers.
