Namuwongo Blazers kicked off their National Basketball League second-round campaign in style with a commanding 79–55 victory over KCCA Panthers at Abja Park in Naalya.

The first quarter was tightly contested, with the Blazers narrowly edging it 18–17.

However, they took control in the second quarter, outscoring KCCA 25–14 to open up a 12-point lead at halftime.

Despite KCCA showing some resistance and cutting the deficit to 16 points by the end of the third quarter, they were unable to mount a serious comeback, as the Blazers closed out the game strongly, winning the final quarter 22–14.

Innocent Ochera and Anthony Chuckwurah led the scoring for the Blazers with 17 and 11 points respectively, while Moses Mugisha added 10 rebounds in a solid all-round performance.

For KCCA Panthers, Davis Assiimwe top-scored with 22 points, while Stanley Mugerwa contributed 11 in the losing effort.

The Blazers, who recently announced the release of Michael Makiadi, handed new signing Kasereka Tembo his debut. The guard responded with 5 points and 3 assists.

Namuwongo also dominated the rebounding battle 55–44 and capitalized on a poor shooting night from KCCA, who managed just 4 of 24 from beyond the arc.

It is now back-to-back defeats for KCCA, who also lost to City Oilers in their second-round opener over the weekend.

For the Blazers, this marks their 11th consecutive win since their season-opening loss to the Oilers.
