KCCA Leopards will be confident of completing a double over Miracle Eaglets when the two sides meet at Lugogo in the National Basketball League on Friday.

In their first-round meeting, KCCA Leopards cruised to a 75-44 victory, with Tracy Namugosa leading the way with a game-high 23 points.

The Leopards will back themselves again against a Miracle Eaglets side that has struggled to find its footing this season.

Head coach Arnold Katabi has had to cope with a depleted roster after the departure of several senior players last season, including Mariam Namukwaya, Brenda Alyano, Esther Loki Mpongo and Hanifa Namuli, among others.

Akello Winfred has shouldered much of the responsibility this campaign, registering a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds in the earlier meeting against KCCA.

Miracle Eaglets have managed just three wins so far and are locked in a tight relegation battle with Nabisunsa and Angels, with two of those three expected to drop to the lower division next season.

They head into this fixture on the back of a 79-61 loss to defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins. While they showed some fight, it came against a JKL side that featured only seven players.

KCCA Leopards, meanwhile, have been impressive, winning 10 of their 12 games so far. Their only defeats have come against JT Lady Jaguars and UCU Lady Canons.

They go into Friday’s clash following a dominant 74-38 win over KIU Rangers on Wednesday, where Namugosa and Margaret Baagala scored 26 and 17 points respectively.

Namugosa has been outstanding this season, averaging 20 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Susan Aanyu and Martha Soigi have added solidity in the front-court.
