Mbale Heroes have failed to honour their FUFA Big League match against hosts Kigezi HomeBoyz in Kabale on Sunday.

The Heroes are yet to comment on the matter, but this is another manifestation of the financial hardships facing the embattled club.

Ahead of kickoff, only Kigezi Homeboyz players were seen warming up and despite a lengthy wait, the Visitors were a no-show.

In a statement, Kigezi HomeBoyz said the game could not proceed despite them being physically present and ready to play.

“Unfortunatel, the visiting team failed to show up the venue for the at scheduled game, for reasons best known to their camp,” reads a statement in part.

“Plenty of grace period was granted so that the team could show up, but all this was unsuccessful.”

FUFA is yet to comment on the matter, but according to competition rules, Mbale Heroes are expected to lose the match by forfeiture and face a further deduction of three points.

Struggling Mbale Heroes FC is already facing a transfer ban for failing to pay former coach Asaph Mwebaze.

Mbale Heroes remain bottom of the FUFA Big League table with 22 points after just six wins from 23 matches.

Kigezi HomeBoyz won this reverse fixture 4-0 in Mbale when the sides met in the first round in November last year.
