Namuwongo Blazers and City Oilers face off in a winner-takes-all Game Seven of the National Basketball League Finals on Saturday.
The decisive game has been shifted to the Hoima City Stadium Arena following a directive from the Ministry of Sports.
The best-of-seven series is tied at 3-3, setting up a repeat of last year’s final, which saw Namuwongo Blazers win 4-2 to claim their maiden league title and dethrone the City Oilers, who had won a record 10 consecutive championships.
Namuwongo forced the decisive game with a commanding 82-64 victory in Game Six on Wednesday.
After edging the opening quarter 14-12, the Blazers dominated the second quarter 31-17 and never looked back.
Peter Obleng led the Blazers with 22 points, while Nyembo Fataki added 18 and Henry Ssebagala contributed 15. Tonny Drilleba also posted a double-double with 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
Jonathan Komagum finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Oilers, but his effort was not enough to prevent defeat.
Reliable guard Patrick Rembert struggled by his standards, scoring 14 points—his lowest tally in the series—on four of 16 shooting from the field.
The Blazers will fancy their chances of defending their crown on Saturday, while the Oilers will be seeking to reclaim the title and end their opponents’ bid for back-to-back championships.
