Mbale Heroes are bracing for tougher times and possible additional FUFA sanctions after forfeiting yet another FUFA Big League match.
The club failed to show up for their away fixture against Nebbi Central on Sunday at Luo Ground.
This marks their second forfeited match, having also missed their trip to Kabale to face Kigezi Homeboyz on April 19, 2026.
Last week, a statement from the club’s acting CEO, Godfrey Kakungulu, indicated that Mbale Heroes could be forced to withdraw from the league if urgent financial support is not secured.
A source at the club has confirmed that they were unable to raise funds to facilitate the team’s travel to face Nebbi Central.
It is further reported that only three players were in camp ahead of the planned trip.
Kakungulu had earlier warned that without immediate intervention, the club would have no option but to notify the FUFA Competitions Committee of their withdrawal.
Efforts to obtain a comment from both the club and FUFA are ongoing.
Mbale Heroes were relegated from the top flight last season, with administrative wrangles widely blamed for their decline.
According to Article 16 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code on respecting competition schedules, Mbale Heroes, if found guilty, will forfeit the match and be docked three points and three goals from their total.
The code further states that any club that fails to turn up for three fixtures in a season, without acceptable explanations for all incidents, shall be excluded from the competition and face additional disciplinary sanctions.
Mbale Heroes currently have 20 points. A three-point deduction would leave them on 17, still 11 points adrift of safety with four matches remaining.
