Kitara visit Express seeking to make amends in a Uganda Premier League match at Nakivubo on Tuesday.
The Royals head into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to NEC on Saturday, a result that dealt a blow to their title ambitions.
Sitting third with 54 points, any outcome short of victory could mathematically end Kitara’s slim title hopes, especially if leaders Vipers, who play earlier, defeat Police at Kira Road Playground.
Against NEC, who scored through Richard Basangwa, Kitara were the better side and created several chances but were frustrated by NEC goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo.
It is the second consecutive home match in which Kitara have failed to score, having earlier drawn goalless with Vipers in the Uganda Cup.
Coach Wasswa Bbosa, speaking through the club, said: “We’ve created chances in our recent games but haven’t converted them. The boys have been working intensely in training to correct that, and we are confident we will get a positive result on Tuesday.”

Kitara edged Express 1-0 in the first round in Hoima, thanks to a Patrick Kaddu goal, and will be aiming to complete a league double over the Red Eagles.
However, they will once again be without first-choice goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige, who is serving the second and final game of his two-match suspension following a poor challenge on Milton Karisa in their league clash against Vipers at Kitende.
Coach Bbosa will be up against his former side, while players such as Emmanuel Alex Wasswa, Murushid Juuko, Hussein Ssenoga, and Isa Lumu all previously featured for Express.
Express, meanwhile, come into the game buoyed by a 2-0 win over Buhimba United Saints, another Hoima-based side.
Struggling to finish the season amid financial challenges, the Red Eagles sit 10th with 33 points.

Jimmy Kintu’s side return to Nakivubo, where they lost 2-0 to BUL, but will draw confidence from last season’s 1-0 win over Kitara at the same venue, when Rashid Kawawa scored the only goal of the game.
