Namuwongo Blazers defeated City Oilers 76-50 in a National Basketball League game played at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday night.

Having lost 74-65 to the Oilers in the season opener, the Blazers came into the contest seeking revenge.

They edged the opening quarter 16-14 before taking a 36-30 lead into halftime.

Namuwongo stretched the advantage to 15 points at the end of the third quarter, and the Oilers failed to mount a comeback thereafter.

Arthur Wanyoto and Nyembo Fataki each scored 12 points, while James Okello added 10.

For the Oilers, new signing Jonathan Komagum failed to score in 12 minutes on the court, while former Blazers player Joel Lukoji managed just one point in 26 minutes.

Fayed Bbaale, who scored 11 points, was the only Oilers player to reach double figures, but his effort was not enough to inspire his side.

It was the Oilers’ second loss of the season, having earlier fallen to Rezlife Saints in the first round.

The Oilers committed 21 turnovers, were outrebounded 52-42, and missed 23 of their 28 attempts from three-point range.

The Blazers displayed quality across the board, collecting 23 points from their bench despite shooting just 3-for-13 from the free-throw line.

The victory sends the Blazers to the top of the standings, level on a 16-2 record after 18 games.
