False Start for Uganda at Rugby Africa Women’s Cup

The Uganda Lady Rugby Cranes started their Rugby Africa Women’s Cup 2026 campaign with a 43-10 loss to the Kenya Lionesses at RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday.

Uganda struggled throughout the contest, hard done by handling errors in a game they lacked rhythm.

The Lady Cranes got their only try through Cabrine Kirabo, while Bushira Namutebi added the conversion and later a penalty.

Uganda showed improved intent in the second half, but Kenya remained clinical and managed the game well to take the East African derby.

Uganda handed international debuts to Getrude Kateesa, Unity Namulala, Justin Anguchia, and Shaine Babirye, who all earned their first caps for the team.

Kenya captain Faith Livoi delivered an outstanding performance and was named Player of the Match.

The Lady Cranes will now prepare for their next fixture against South Africa on Wednesday, 27 May, back at RFUEA Grounds before Madagascar.
