KCCA Leopards suffered a disappointing 48-44 defeat to UPDF Lady Tomahawks in the National Basketball League on Wednesday at Rezlife Court in Lubowa.
The Leopards struggled from the opening quarter, falling behind 18-14 after the first period. Their offensive woes continued throughout the game, highlighted by a third-quarter performance in which they managed just four points.
There was little to admire from KCCA’s attack as they converted only two of their 28 attempts from beyond the arc in a display that lacked rhythm and conviction.
No KCCA player reached double figures in scoring, with Ninete Uwineza, Margaret Bagala, and Tracy Namugosa leading the team with seven points apiece.
For UPDF Lady Tomahawks, Maria Awidi scored a game-high 11 points, while Stella Maris Lunkuse added 10. Dorah Nakijoba also made a significant contribution, pulling down 10 rebounds.
The defeat marked KCCA’s fourth loss of the season under coach Tonny Drileba, excluding their forfeited fixture against Miracle Eaglets.
For UPDF, it was their 10th victory in 20 games and their third consecutive win, having previously defeated Angels and KIU Rangers.
The Lady Tomahawks have all but secured a playoff berth and will conclude their regular-season campaign against Victoria She Crocs and Miracle Eaglets.
