Guela Doue scored one goal and created another as Ivory Coast came from behind to defeat France 2-1 in a World Cup warm-up match in Nantes on Thursday.
The Strasbourg defender, older brother of France forward Desire Doue, cancelled out Rayan Cherki’s first-half opener before providing the cross that Amad Diallo converted for the winner.
The result gave the Elephants their first-ever victory over Les Bleus.
France dominated much of the first half and took the lead on the stroke of halftime when Cherki beat his marker and fired a low shot into the far corner.

However, Ivory Coast responded strongly after the break. Doue levelled in the 53rd minute after being played through by Nicolas Pepe, slipping the ball past goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The defender then turned provider as his cross was tapped in by Diallo to complete the comeback and boost Ivory Coast’s confidence ahead of their World Cup opener against Ecuador on June 15.
Ivory Coast are in Group E for their fourth World Cup, and will open their campaign on 14 June against Ecuador, before facing Germany and tournament debutants Curacao.
