NCBA Bank Uganda has officially launched the Uganda leg of the 2026 NCBA Golf Series, reaffirming its commitment to golf development, talent nurturing and community empowerment across East Africa.
Speaking at the launch held at Uganda Golf Club, NCBA Bank Uganda Executive Director Julius Konyani described the tournament as a celebration of both sport and community impact.
“It’s a moment that not only celebrates the sport of golf but importantly affirms our shared commitment to the community and sports in this country,” Konyani said.
The 2026 edition marks the fourth anniversary of the NCBA Golf Series, which has grown into one of the region’s most prestigious amateur golf competitions since its inception in 2022.

“This year marks the fourth anniversary of the NCBA Golf Series and what a journey it has been. What started as a bold idea in 2022 has become East Africa’s premier golf tournament,” he added.
The tournament, which was launched earlier in Kenya, now heads to Uganda, a market Konyani praised for its growing influence in the sport.
“We began this 2026 tournament in Kenya and today we are thrilled to bring the tournament to Uganda, a country that has consistently demonstrated passion for the sport, exceptional talent and a growing golfing culture,” he said.
The Uganda leg will feature two qualifying events, with golfers competing at Uganda Golf Club in Kitante and Entebbe Club. The qualifiers will determine who advances to the regional Grand Finale in Kenya later this year.
“Over the coming weeks, some of the region’s best golfers and rising stars will battle it out on some of Uganda’s most iconic courses, Golf Club of Kitante and Entebbe,” Konyani noted.
“These two venues will serve as qualifying grounds for the Grand Finale in Kenya on November 28.”

The competition has continued to provide a pathway for Ugandan golfers to showcase their abilities on the regional stage. During the 2025 edition, Uganda recorded its strongest-ever representation at the Grand Finale, with seven golfers qualifying.
“Last year, Uganda achieved a milestone by having its largest-ever contingent of seven qualifiers for the Grand Finale in Nairobi. It was a profound moment not just for NCBA but for Uganda as a whole,” Konyani said.
Uganda Golf Club Chairman Paul Nuwagaba welcomed the continued partnership with NCBA Bank and hailed the impact the series has had on the local game.
“The NCBA Golf Series has played an important role in elevating competitive amateur golf in Uganda. Beyond providing a high-quality tournament experience, it has created valuable opportunities for emerging golfers to test themselves against top talent and gain exposure at a regional level,” Nuwagaba said.
Konyani emphasized that the bank’s involvement goes beyond sponsorship, describing golf as a platform for personal development and social transformation.
“At NCBA Bank, we believe that golf is more than just a game. For us, it is a teacher of values – discipline, persistence, resilience and focus. These align perfectly with our brand,” he said.
“But more than that, golf has become a vehicle for transformation, creating opportunities and fostering communities.”

He added that the bank remains committed to investing in the future of sport and young talent across the region.
“Our support for this series is not just sponsorship, but a long-term investment in human potential. We are building a platform where talent is discovered, nurtured and celebrated.”
In line with its sustainability and community agenda, NCBA Bank has partnered with Pendeza Uganda to support vulnerable families through access to clean and safe drinking water.
“We always embed community activities into golfing activities,” Konyani said.
“We have partnered with Pendeza Uganda to provide support to the needy through access to clean water.”
Pendeza Uganda Executive Director Christine Namumbya Walubo applauded NCBA Bank and the NCBA Golf Series for extending support to vulnerable communities.
“Pendeza Uganda is an indigenous charity organisation based at Deliverance Church Makerere, working to ensure that vulnerable households overcome poverty and thrive,” Walubo said.
“We want to express our sincere gratitude to NCBA Bank and the NCBA Golf Series for the generous support. Today, over 40 families will receive water filters that will help them access safe water and reduce the burden of water-borne diseases that affect them.”
She said the donation would create a lasting impact on beneficiaries beyond the immediate provision of clean water.
“What may seem like a simple gift will have a lasting impact on the lives of the people that we serve. We are deeply grateful that you chose to invest in the community that we serve,” Walubo added.
“Your support shows that transformation happens when organisations come together with a shared commitment to make a difference. Thank you so much for standing with us and the vulnerable families and communities.”
As part of the initiative, water purifiers will be distributed to disadvantaged families in Makerere Kivulu to improve access to safe drinking water and help reduce water-borne diseases.
The NCBA Golf Series is regarded as East Africa’s premier amateur golf tournament, attracting golfers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
