Premier League showdown: Guinness Matchday on Tour heads to Masaka

The 2025/26 Premier League season has delivered intense action, with tight matches and unpredictable results every weekend as teams continue to take points off each other.

For Ugandan football fans, many of these moments have been experienced through the Guinness Matchday on Tour activations held across the country.

The events have brought supporters together to watch live matches on big screens while enjoying a lively matchday atmosphere.

This Sunday, April 19, the tour moves to Masaka Sports Club for another Super Sunday, featuring a high-stakes clash between Arsenal and Manchester City. The match is expected to play a key role in the closing stages of the title race.

Arsenal go into the game after a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, a result that slowed their momentum. Manchester City, meanwhile, boosted their title push with a convincing 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Kick-off at the Etihad is at 6:30 PM, with Arsenal needing a perfect run in their remaining six matches to stay on course for the title. City, six points behind with a game in hand, must keep winning to stay in contention.

Masaka, known for its passionate Premier League fanbase, especially supporters of Arsenal, is expected to host a lively and tense viewing experience as fans anticipate a crucial “judgement day” fixture.

Earlier at 4 PM, fans will also watch three other Premier League matches, including the 247th Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool. Aston Villa face Sunderland, while Nottingham Forest take on Burnley.

The event will also feature music and entertainment alongside football. DJs Woodgate, Brattah, and Andy DJ will provide nonstop music throughout the day, while singer Ava Peace will headline the live performance.

Other Guinness Matchday activations will also take place across the country at The Villa Bukoto (in partnership with SuperSport), Supremacy Lounge in Nakulabye, D’Ajango in Hoima, and D Plus venues in Gulu and Kitgum.

Guinness Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, Denise Paula Nazzinda, said the Masaka stopover carries the highest stakes of the season so far, noting the growing excitement among fans.

Fans will enjoy special Guinness matchday prices and stand a chance to win branded merchandise during the event.
