Express, Kitara share spoils

Express FC played out a 1-1 draw with Kitara in a Uganda Premier League encounter on Friday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Frank Zaga Tumwesigye put the visitors ahead before Nicholas Jjonga equalised for Express just before halftime, with neither side able to find a winner after the break.

Zaga opened the scoring in the 24th minute, firing a powerful effort from the edge of the box after being teed up by Patrick Kaddu. The strike gave Express goalkeeper little chance.

Express levelled on the stroke of halftime when Jjonga headed home, with Kitara goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige failing to hold a seemingly manageable ball.

Kitara struggled for long spells in the second half but created the better chances. Zaga came closest to restoring their lead when his effort rattled the woodwork.

The draw leaves Express FC on four points from four matches. They have beaten KCCA but lost to SC Villa and BUL.

Kitara, meanwhile, have two points from two games after also drawing 1-1 with SC Villa in their opening match at Wankulukuku.
