KCCA FC secured their first victory of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season with a 1-0 win over newcomers Kataka at Lugogo on Wednesday.
Emmanuel Anyama scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute, tapping home from close range after Sammy Ssebaduka’s low cross beat two Kataka defenders.
The result eases pressure on KCCA coach Brian Ssenyondo, whose side had collected just one point from their opening three matches.
KCCA had lost to NEC and Express before drawing 0-0 with Kigezi HomeBoyz in their previous outing.
Facing a Kataka side that had also managed just one point from their opening three games, Ssenyondo made several changes to his starting lineup, with Anyama, James Mubeezi, Elvis Ngonde, Lazaro Muhindo and Ibrahim Kasule among those brought into the team.
Kataka proved difficult to break down in the opening half and came close to taking the lead. Ali Ssentamu failed to capitalise on a poor back pass, while Jose Da Silva was denied by KCCA goalkeeper Humphrey Oyirwoth.
KCCA also went close twice, with Ibrahim Kasule and Ssebaduka hitting the woodwork in a frustrating first half.
The hosts stepped up their performance after the break, while Kataka struggled to maintain their first-half intensity.
Brian Jjara fired over after a neat cut-back from Lazaro Bwambale before Anyama finally broke the deadlock.
Saidi Mayanja and Ssebaduka later had chances to extend KCCA’s lead, but neither could find the back of the net.
The victory lifts KCCA to four points from four matches, while Kataka remain on one point.
