The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has released 50% of the UGX5.5 billion annual subvention for the 18 Uganda Premier League clubs for the 2026/27 financial year.

The release, confirmed by the National Council of Sports (NCS) in a letter dated September 18, 2026, means each club is entitled to UGX152.7 million for the first quarter of the financial year.

NCS said it had completed the process of onboarding the bank details of all 18 clubs onto the Government Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) and was ready to process the payments.

Each club is entitled to an annual allocation of UGX305.5 million, with the first-quarter funding forming part of the approved subvention.

However, the clubs are required to submit detailed work plans and budgets to the NCS General Secretary to facilitate the processing of the funds.

The council has directed that 60 per cent of the annual allocation be spent on the welfare of players and technical staff, 20 per cent on special consideration for national team players, 10 per cent on talent identification and development, and the remaining 10 per cent on general administrative support.

NCS said the communication was intended to inform the clubs of their allocations, request the necessary documentation and reaffirm its commitment to supporting them in line with the approved funding.
