Vipers SC registered their first win of the Uganda Premier League season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ntugasaze FC at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Saturday.
Gusto Mulongo, Chukwuma Odili and Cesar Manzoki scored a goal each as the defending champions bounced back from their opening-day defeat to Entebbe UPPC.
Mulongo opened the scoring in the 27th minute, rising highest to head home Karim Watambala’s corner kick. Ntugasaze goalkeeper Amis Muba was unable to reach the ball amid a crowded penalty area.
Vipers doubled their advantage on the hour mark when Farouk Miya picked out Odili with a long pass to the left. The forward beat his marker before firing past Muba.
Three minutes later, Manzoki sealed the victory with a fine finish after Arafat Usama laid the ball into his path, following another contribution from Miya.
The result gives Vipers their first three points of the campaign after a 1-0 loss to Entebbe UPPC in their league opener.
Newly promoted Ntugasaze, meanwhile, remain without a point after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat, having earlier lost to BUL FC, Maroons FC and Blacks Power.
