Reigning FUFA Women Super League champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies have started their title defence with a comfortable 3-0 victory over newly promoted Jinja United.
Latifah Nakasi and Jovia Nakagolo gave Kawempe a quick lead under three minutes at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
Substitute Belinda Nabawanuka, signed from URA, put the icing on the cake when she was put through by Agnes Nabukenya before firing in with her left foot in the 69th minute.
It’s a strong start for the defending champions who recently won the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers to book a historical ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The match marked a return for captain Shakirah Nyinagahirwa after a lengthy layoff.
Kawempe will next visit She Maroons at Wankulukuku next Saturday, while Jinja United host She Corporate in Iganga.
