•BUL Vs NEC – Njeru

BUL FC and NEC FC will put their unbeaten starts to the Uganda Premier League season on the line when they meet at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Wednesday.

The Matchday Seven encounter pits league leaders BUL against third-placed NEC, with only two points separating the sides after six matches.

BUL top the standings with 16 points from five wins and one draw, while NEC have collected 14 points from four victories and two draws. Both teams have conceded just two goals, underlining their defensive strength early in the campaign.

The Eastern Giants head into the contest after beating UPDF FC 2-0 at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo on Sunday, while NEC recorded an identical victory over league newcomers Kigezi Homeboyz in Kamwenge.

Allan Mugalu and Marvin Oshaba scored for NEC in their previous outing, keeping the Diehards firmly in the title race.

Victory would take NEC to 17 points and could move them to the top of the table, depending on other results. BUL, meanwhile, will be looking to protect their position and open up a bigger gap over their direct rivals.

Team news

NEC have received a boost with the return of winger James Jarieko from suspension. Left-back Hakim Wandera and midfielder Shamir Kimwero are also available again, giving the technical team additional options for the trip to Njeru.

However, goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo remains sidelined through injury, while defender Mustafa Mujuzi is unavailable after sustaining a head injury in the match against Kigezi Homeboyz. Defender Warren Bbule is also out injured.

BUL, on the other hand, report that all players who featured in the win over UPDF are available for selection. Walter Ochora and Lawrence Kambugu remain sidelined through injuries, while Denis Sewagudde is unavailable as he sits his Uganda Certificate of Education examinations.

Head to Head

NEC have enjoyed the better record in previous league meetings, winning three of the eight encounters between the sides, with the other five ending in draws.

BUL are still searching for their first league victory against the Diehards and will be eager to change that record on home soil.

Their most recent four league meetings have been particularly difficult for the Eastern Giants. NEC won 1-0 in April 2026, while the other three encounters ended in 1-1 draws.
